After 20+ years in the radio business I’m confident to say that I speak the radio lingo fluently. I spend the majority of my work days helping radio stations stand out in a crowd and offer premium quality content to their listeners. While the term radio imaging may be commonplace for me, I know that for many out there they have never even heard of it. For those of you who aren’t familiar with radio imaging, I’ll cover the basics of what it is and why its important. For those of you familiar with radio imaging, I’ll share a couple reasons why Longtrain Productions is a great option for branding your station.
For the “Non-radio” Folks
Radio Imaging can be defined as a radio station’s signature sound composition that enables listeners to easily identify the station from the rest in a given market. A well produced radio imaging can showcase a station against competitors, and gives the listeners an idea of what to expect when they are listen to that station. There are a number of subcategories within radio imaging such as radio sweepers, intros & outros, bumpers, stingers and drops. We’ll save some of that for a future blog post 🙂 Bottom line for those of you outside the radio industry is that a radio station’s imaging is responsible for those catchy tunes you end up singing along to when your favorite stations cuts to commercial or comes on the air. You’re welcome!
