Saying words for a living sounds like the dream job, and honestly, in a lot of ways, it is! But it’s still a lot of work. No day for a voice over actor is ‘typical’, but here’s what happened today to give you an idea of what kind of stuff comes my way:
Today is a Monday. I got the computer fired up around 7:30 am started looking thru things that came in late Friday and over the weekend. Once I am all caught up, I dive in.
First, I worked on a promo for a major music festival. Then I went on to finish up a few imaging pieces for an internet radio station. Next, I made a revision to something I did Friday for the Clemson Tigers Radio Network. Then I worked on some odds and ends for a brand new client I have in Yakima, Washington. Then I went on to do a session with Curb Records.
Are you stressed yet? Then I went on to do a quick promo session for a client in eastern North Carolina, two commercials for a publisher and then a quick 15-minute break for lunch before back in here doing a variety of sessions for my radio and TV clients all afternoon. The most random thing I did today? A session for a supermarket in Kenya. Yes, Africa.
My day usually wraps up around 6:30 pm, though I have done plenty of voice over sessions later in the evening. One time I did some work for an agency in Denmark at 2:30 am my time. Not sure if that’s considered ‘late’ or ‘early’?
Every day is different and brings a load of challenges. But it’s a great way to make a living! The great thing is that it is certainly never boring or routine. Want to be a part of this crazy life of mine? Contact me here if you are interested in any of my services.
